Vote Europe – See the Future Campaign

The European Movement in Serbia launches its Vote Europe – See the Future! campaign, which aims to stimulate the citizens of Serbia to turn out at the polls in numbers in the coming Elections on May 11, 2008.

The campaign will be implemented in the period May 1-9, through a series of street actions in 19 cities in Serbia to distribute information leaflets with clear and simple answers to the question `Why Europe?`, as well as flags, balloons, stickers and other promotional material.

A short and effective animated video will air on a number of national, regional and local broadcasters. The campaign also prepared a website - www.mojaevropa.rs, a portal that will offer closer look and information of the European Union to the citizens.

EMinS will organize two debates in Belgrade, presenting the latest results of public opinion polls on the way citizens of Serbia view EU and the EU integration processes. The debates also aim to offer answers to the question Why does Serbia need European standards?.

Another segment of the campaign, dedicated to the local elections, will be the preparation of the Local European Chapter, a document that will offer, in ten points, the main principles of functioning of modern, European local sef-government and which will be used as source of discussion topics for civil society and local politicians.

The campaign is positive and educational, aiming to inform the citizens with the advantages and benefits that European integration will bring to them, but also to push into action all pro-European citizens to raise the level of awareness and strengthen democratic institutions in Serbia.
