CGO Presents Djukanovic with Documentation on Police Actions

The Civic Education Centre (CGO) presented yesterday, May 13, a set of documents to Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic, on the Police approach to human rights issues, in the context of the procedure for election of Director of Police Bureau of Montenegro.

- We appealed to the Prime Minister to do everything in his power to secure that the presented material will be reviewed carefully and with great attention and to avoid that only those parts that present the Police Bureau in positive light are taken into acount, says CGO.

Djukanovic received the U.S. Department of State Human Rights Report for 2007, Amnesty International reaction on the `Orlov let` (Eagle`s Flight) case to the European Union.

CGO presented the Prime Minister the data on the Eagle`s Flight collected by Aleksandar Zekovic, Human Rights Researcher, on instances of torture and illegal and unprofessional actions of police officers in 2006 and 2007.

CGO also notified Djukanovic of the fact that various Government bodies have already received reports on the situation of human rights in Montenegro prepared by a number of local and foreign organizations.
