Civil Appeals for Fair Elections without Terror

Following the development of the electoral process in Macedonia and rising number of serious violent incidents, Civil expresses its deepest concern over the fact that the life of the citizens in Tetovo, Gostivar and other cities and towns in Macedonia are threatened, whilst the election process gets a face of an everyday terror, not the highest democratic process in the society.

Civil warns that devaluation of democracy and the free choice of citizens undermines the system as a whole, and calls call for urgent activation of all segments of the society with complete responsibility and sincerity – to put an end to violence, and create atmosphere of citizen unity and dignity, and good neighbourly relationship and cooperation.

-Those who believe that by weapons and intimidation of citizens the power can be won, are bitterly delusional: no one will trust a system that is managed by violent persons. It is impossible to manage a system that no one believes in, says Civil NGO.

The organization appeals to all persons and entities involved in the electoral process to immediately discard and denounce use of arms and violence of any kind. It also calls on all institutions and individuals, governmental and non-governmental alike, to take urgent action to calm down the situation and carry out fair and democratic elections.
