Peace Caravan 2008 Ends in Skopje

After Sarajevo, Prijedor, Pančevo and Zaječar, the Peace Caravan 2008 arrived in Skopje on May 19, 2008, to end this year`s trip with an action on the `Makedonija` Square.

Caravan activists, representing almost all countries in the region, set up their information-stand where they distributed leaflets, brochures, the latest editions of Kulturpunkt and Antimilitarist publications, as well as the CD with compilation of bands from the Balkans.

They also set up the travelling exhibition of photographs from past Caravans and held series of workshops in juggling, printing of t-shirts, and production of objects made of recycled plastic containers.

The citizens of Skopje expressed great interest in the activities of the Caravan.

- We are very satisfied with the way Caravan proceeded. In fact, we find that contact and exchange of energies with the local citizens the most important aspect of the Caravan, says Robert Jandrić, activist from Prijedor, adding that this year`s Caravan passed in the best possible way, without any problems.

Jandrić adds that, in his opinion, the best days were the actions in Prijedor and Zaječar, primarily because of the fact that those are smaller towns which rarely have the chance to see actions of that kind, which contributes to rising interest.

-The atmosphere surrounding our stands, the locations in general, was bursting with positive energy. We were accepted well by the citizens and the local media, who accepted, without prejudice, the ideas of peace and non-violence that we promote, which are important in particular here, in the Balkans, concludes Jandrić.
