UWC Graduation Ceremony in Mostar

Graduation Ceremony of the 1st Generation of 88 students of United World College (UWC) in Mostar will take place on May 29, 2008 at 11 am in Herceg Stjepan Kosača Centre in Mostar. Students of the first generation who come from all parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and 18 countries from all around the world have spent last 2 years in Mostar attending the International Baccalaureate(IB) programme at UWCiM.

The UWCiM offers one curriculum, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme for students who are 16 to 19 years old, and in the last two years of secondary school. This internationally respected secondary-school level educational system is valid and acceptable for all etnic groups in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In line with the long-established practice of the UWC and IB, national traditions and cultures receive full respect in this programme through specific instruction in mother tongue and literature.

UWCiM students are chosen purely on merit, by the UWC Selection Committee specific to their country, and are awarded a full scholarship for their two year study. The scholarship covers the provision of tuition, textbooks, examination fees, compulsory school trips, stationery, food, accommodation and health insurance.

This September, around 100 selected students from BiH and the whole world will start their exciting first school year at UWCiM. Besides studying interesting things and making new life-time friends, the third generation of UWCiM students will continue with the practise of activism and social work in the local community.
