Workshop on Integrated Management of Shared Lakes Basins

A `targeted` capacity building workshop on Integrated Management of Shared Lakes Basins shall be co-organised by the Global Water Partnership-Mediterranean (GWP-Med) and the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO/ECSDE) in cooperation with the GEF/UNDP `Integrated Ecosystem Management in the Prespa Lakes Basin of Albania, FYR-Macedonia and Greece` project, in Ohrid FYR Macedonia, July 16-19, 2008.

The purpose of the workshop would be to build capacity of stakeholders on transboundary lake basin management and to equip them with the proper knowledge / tools that will enhance their skills to participate in the preparation of Lake Basin Management Plans.

The activity is part of a series of four workshops within 2008 (two more are planned for 2009) in the framework of the Petersberg Phase II / Athens Declaration Process and GEF IW:LEARN. It works in synergy and supports the implementation of the GEF Strategic Partnership for the Mediterranean Large Marine Ecosystems as well as the Mediterranean Component of the EU Water Initiative (MED EUWI).
