Serbia Determined to Complete the Hague Story
|
Radovan Karadžić, until recently one of the three remaining Hague fugitives, together with general Ratko Mladić and Goran Hadžić, was extradited to the International Criminal Tribunal for Former Yugoslavia and already appeared in front of the Chamber to listen to the charges.
Civic Initiatives NGO greeted the extradition and see it as clear proof of the determination of the state to bring the cooperation with ICTY to a satisfactory conclusion. - We expect from the authorities to present same determination and ship the two remaining fugitives to the Hague, with due respect of legal obligations, so that Serbia could continue on its road to EU unimpeded, says the organization. Civi Initiatives add that, on that road, special attention should be paid to the young generations to present them with clear perspectives to avoid future abuses for daily political purposes. In his first appearance in the Hague, Karadžić informed the Court that he intends to present his own defence and demanded enough time to read the new, amended charges announced by the Prosecution. |
