MKC Bitola Launches the Local Volunteering Service Project

The Bitola Youth Cultural Centre, the national volunteering centre in Macedonia, started the implementation of the Local Volunteering Service project.

- This project will be implemented in partnership with five nongovernmental organizations from Kavadarci, Ohrid, Prilep, Sveti Nikole and Tetovo. The first stage will cover registration and involvement of volunteers that will be engaged at social welfare public institutions, says Sašo Dodovski, MKC Bitola director.

The volunteering terms will take three months of work in social work centres, rehab institutions, centres for children with special needs, homes for the elderly and in local Red Cross organizations.

The project will include 50 volunteers providing services to about 600 users. It is financially supported by the U.S. Embassy in Macedonia and the Balkan Trust for Democracy.

This project marks the practical implementation of the Law on Volunteering, adopted by the Parliament in July 2007.
