ENA Demands Distribution of Scholarships for Students Studying in the EU

The Europe Has No Alternative movement (ENA) demands from the Parliamentary Committee on Youth and Sport to propose to the Government to urgently open a public competition for allocation of the remaining 409 scholarships from the Young Talents Fund, intended for Serbian students studying in EU countries.

- We would like to remind that the inadequate terms and conditions resulted in a situation when less than one fifth of the available 500 scholarships – just 91 – were allocated, says ENA.

The next session of the Youth and Sports Committee is scheduled for Thursday, November 6, and representatives of the Ministry of Youth and Sport and ENA are expected to take part in the deliberations.

ENA proposed to the Government of Serbia to review the terms and conditions of the failed competition and urgently open a new competition to young professionals, scientists and scholars specializing abroad.

- One of the main goals of the Young Talents Fund was for it to be a strategic investment in education of young experts in prestigious universities abroad, who would upon their return to Serbia become the country`s key human resources. Therefore, we are convinced that the Parliamentary Committee and the Government will take the necessary steps to improve the status of young population and invest in them as the main resource of Serbian society – says ENA.
