Shocked Citizens, Successful Campaign
Automobiles destroyed in traffic accidents and billboards with the `Drive Carefully` message will warn the drivers and other participants in the traffic to the dangers of careless driving and failure to observe the traffic rules, often leading to tragic consequences.
`The campaign is implemented by the Federal Ministry of Interior, in cooperation with the competent cantonal bodies, and aims to attract drivers` attention in the effort to reduce the number of traffic accidents`, Almir Katica, advisor to the Federal Interior Minister told the Sarajevo X portal.
Katica adds that the campaign will focus on several messages, the need to observe the traffic lights, adapt the speed of driving, follow the traffic signs, risky and prohibited overtaking of other cars.
`The campaign has already had an effect. Wrecked cars by the road have shocked the citizens, but their reactions to the message to save lives were positive. It was our goal, in fact, to demonstrate the responsibility of all participants in the traffic`, says Katica.
The creative concept, prepared by Boram Agency, was selected in a public competition.
The Federal Interior Ministry says that the campaign aims to stop the growing trends of traffic accidents and reduce the numbers of injured and fatalities. According to official statistics, there were 28,231 accidents in the BiH Federation, with 235 casualties. In the first nine months of this year, there were 22,028 accidents resulting in 184 deaths.
