The Faculty of Agriculture in Sarajevo, whose facilities will be demolished to make way for the expansion of the Road of Life street, still searches for new building. "We lost our building during the war and ever since, we are constantly moving from one place to the other. That has to stop," said Vjekoslav Selak, the Dean of the Faculty.
One of the possible solutions moves the Faculty to the building at the other end of the Sarajevo University Campus, in the former "Marsal Tito" barracks, currently used by the Italian SFOR units.
"If the Canton, the City of Sarajevo and other entities come forward and decide on the building used by SFOR, we are prepared to start moving this instant. We would like to have a final solution," added Selak. He says that the faculty will be able to function on no more than 12,000 square metres.
"We don't need more than this current facility offers. We hope that we will have enough time to search for a new building. We will need four months just to move to the new place, and we are an institution that can't stop working for a single moment," warned Selak.
Adem Zolj, the Director of Roads and Transportation Directorate of the Canton Sarajevo says that the building currently used by the Faculty won’t be torn down until a new location is provided.
"They will have enough time to find a solution to this situation. The expansion of the street will start next month, but it will start on another stretch because of this problem we have with the Faculty," emphasized Zolj.
