Three internationals, including a Kosovar female, were abducted by armed persons in Kabul, Afghanistan, news agencies reported. It is believed that the abductees come from Kosovo, Ireland and Philippines.

They were part of the elections monitoring in Afghanistan. Reportedly, the Kosovar female is Shqipe Hebibi, who used to work for the OSCE Mission in Peja region.

Abdul Hadi Qasemi, a security officer in Kabul, said, "There were three international staff members in a UN vehicle. Five armed people came and started the attack. They took away the three internationals and I don't know where they are gone. The driver of the vehicle was Afghan and he escaped from the vehicle."

According to the news agencies, an Islamic group called "Muslims' Army" took over the responsibility for the abduction. The UN spokesperson in Kabul confirmed the abduction but he did not give the identities of the abductees.

The SRSG Soren Jessen-Petersen expressed his concern through a special statement over the abduction of Shqipe Hebibi. He stated that the entire UN staff is hoping that Shqipe and other UN staff members will be released soon.

OneWorld SEE's Luan Ibraj talked to Shefqet Kasapolli, Shqipe Hebibi's uncle, who appealed to the kidnappers to release his niece and her colleagues.

"We are very concerned about her and her two colleagues. The kidnappers should be aware that my niece and the other UN personnel went there to help install the democratic institutions in Afghanistan. We appeal for their urgent release”, said Kasapolli.
