Founding Convention of the �BH Journalists� Association

The Independent Union of Professional Journalists of B&H from Sarajevo, the Journalists Association �Apel� from Mostar and the Independent Association of Journalists of RS from Banja Luka, adopted a decision to call for a founding convention and establish a single united organization, named �BH Journalists�.

The goal of �BH Journalists� Association is to create a self-sustainable journalist association that will provide for protection of public expression, professional and social interests of journalists and other media professionals, and promote ethical standards and integrity of journalistic profession in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The founding of �BH Journalists� was supported by a great number of B&H journalists and media, as well as by the International Federation of Journalists from Brussels.

�The establishment of �BH Journalists� presents a challenge to the other journalist associations in the country to join the process of unification and solidarity that could only contribute positively to the strengthening of free jounalism in B&H�, states the letter that IFJ sent to the delegates at the Founding Convention.

The Convention will be held on Saturday, December 11, at the UNITIC Centre in Sarajevo, at 12:00 hours.
